We work on circular construction every day – in construction projects, procurement processes, policy and strategy. We help set ambitions, define approaches and make strategic decisions. We have experience in both residential-, commercial construction, and infrastructure; both new build as well as renovation.

• We help construction projects bring their circular ambitions into practice. By defining ambitions upfront and selecting the right partners. Where needed, we guide the procurement process.
• We support clients and construction companies in developing their circular strategies. We identify measures, calculate reduction pathways and determine what is needed to keep building within their carbon budget.
• We guide initiatives aimed at transforming the construction sector. We help with design, content development and engaging the right stakeholders.
• We initiate research on emerging topics to accelerate the transition, and as such are involved in agenda-setting.

Circular construction may appear to be a technical challenge, but our experience shows it requires a much broader perspective. Organizational and financial innovation are essential conditions.

Our experience

• Developing circular strategies with actionable measures to reduce material demand and contribute to climate and nature goals for organizations such as Blauwhoed, Synchroon, ERA Contour and Aalberts.
• Policy research and advisory work to accelerate the transition to a circular construction economy. Our projects include environmental steering (MKI) in the infrastructure sector for the Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management as well as an analysis on industrial housing concepts for the Ministry of Interior Affairs.
• Het Nieuwe Normaal as a shared language for circular construction. It enables clients and contractors to define ambitions and make agreements in a consistent way. Together with Cirkelstad we helped co-found this framework.
• Ambitious procurement processes with circular ambitions such as the redevelopment of Alliander’s offices in Duiven, the Cruquius Bridge in North Holland, and the redevelopment of four portico flats for Woonstad in Rotterdam.
• Independent research such as Building within Planetary Boundaries, the environmental impact of industrialized construction, Circular Business Models in Construction and Valuation of Circular Buildings.
